Two more bodies were recovered on August 22, 2016 from the site of the accident on the Sumag River Diversion project. The bodies of all six personnel that perished during the accident have now been recovered. All six personnel were employed by CavDeal, the contractor that won the bid to undertake the project.

The project is an undertaking of Manila Water as part of the Common Purpose Facilities (CPF) arrangement with the MWSS and the other concessionaire Maynilad. It is aimed at diverting some 188 MLD of water flowing from the Sumag River in Gen. Nakar town of Quezon to the Angat Dam via the UATP tunnel to bolster the raw water supply at the Angat Dam.
