Volunteers for the Balara Filtration Park (Park), led by MWSS Administrator Cleofas, again had a chance to get to build bonds and pitch in to reverse years of neglect. Picnic Grove and Windmill were spruced up over the first two weekends. On 28 May 2022 volunteers returned to clean, improve the areas inside the Children’s Playground that have been neglected, vandalized and misused.
The weekend clean-up of the various park spaces is part of MWSS-CO’s effort to give back to the environment, beautify its historic assets, and strengthen relationships with coworkers and the community. More Park areas, such as the Pedro Tobias area, which contains the Lion’s Head and Baby Quezon Terrace; and the Anonas Amphitheater, which is adjacent to the Batbig and Batdiwa statues, Workers Monument, Water Nymph, Carriedo Fountain replica and the mini Bethlehem, must be cleaned. MWSS calls on the unwavering support of volunteers to join the next weekend maintenance, protection and upkeep of the park.
