As part of MWSS’ mandate to ensure an uninterrupted and adequate supply and distribution of potable water to the whole of Metro Manila, MWSS-CO joined Maynilad Water Services Inc. (MWSI), Water and Life Philippines and Tubig Pag-Asa in inaugurating MERNAI’s “Pag-Asa sa Patubig Partnerships : Water-for-the-Poor Project.” This partnership aimed to provide affordable water to the indigent community of MERNAI (Molave Extension Riverside Neighborhood Association, Inc.) at Talon Tres, Las Piñas City. Maynilad Water Services Inc. is collaborating with social business Tubig Pag-Asa, who will manage the bulk water supply and its sister France-based NGO Water and Life Philippines.

Short speeches were given by MERNAI Officers; Alexia Michels, Country Director Water & Life PH and Tubig Pag-asa; Atty. Patrick Ty, Chief Regulator of MWSS Regulatory Office; Maynilad’s Rosmon Tuazon, head of Advocacy Team; and Mr. Ronald S. Abrigo, OIC for Innovation and Technology Group, who represented MWSS Administrator LTGen Emmanuel Salamat. MOA Signing and ribbon cutting concluded the short program.

MWSS-CO fully supports this kind of endeavor of its concessionaire MWSI to address the water needs of the less fortunate constituents in its service areas. It was reiterated during the ceremony that the residents should be mindful of the wise use of water and care for the environment must always be practiced as these residents live beside the river.
