During the event, DENR Acting Secretary Jim O. Sampulna, Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana, San Miguel Corporation (SMC) President Ramon S. Ang, DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año, and Former DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu unveiled the Heritage Cannon Project Marker, which symbolizes the achievements and challenges of the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program. This was followed by the inauguration and opening of Manila Baywalk Dolomite Beach to the public.
“Kailangan natin na magtulungan tayo, magkaroon tayo ng disiplina, to make sure na iisa ang ating layunin — maging livable at swimmable ang ating Manila Bay,” Administrator Cleofas said during her speech. She also lauded the efforts of the 13 Mandamus agencies and other organizations involved in the rehabilitation of Manila Bay.
The MWSS-CO is committed to its mission of ensuring provision of effective and sanitary sewerage services in Metro Manila.
Duterte made the decision to save Manila Bay, and so the battle for Manila Bay has begun, and after 3 years of fighting, the tide has finally shifted in our favor as it was indeed a very Happy Independence, as just this last June 12, 2022 marks the long-awaited resurrection of the Manila Bay.
Despite the unpredictable weather condition, visitors crowded the new dolomite-sanded beach as the MWSS, along with DENR, DPWH, SMC, DILG, Phil Veterans Affairs Office, the US Embassy and many more, officially opened and inaugurated the newly restored Dolomite Beach. MWSS Administrator Leonor Cleofas gave a heartwarming and inspiring message to solidify the collective efforts to protect and preserve Manila Bay for the sake of the public.
